Cambria Bathroom Remodeling: The San Francisco Owner’s Guide
A full Cambria bathroom remodel in San Francisco typically runs $10,620 to $33,040 installed, depending on square footage, current plumbing condition, and whether you’re replacing the shower surround, vanity top, or both. We stock Cambria slabs and remnants locally, and most bathroom assessments happen within a few days of your call. What you’re reading usually starts after a seam lets go, a faucet hole chips, or a shower wall starts trapping moisture where it shouldn’t.
Here’s the truth most San Francisco homeowners don’t hear until it’s too late: the failure is rarely the Cambria surface itself. It’s the substrate underneath, the waterproofing behind it, or a bad original install that never got the slope or the seam right. That matters because replacing the surface without fixing what’s underneath means you’ll be back here in two years. We’d rather do it once.
Key Takeaways:
- Installed Cambria bathroom remodels in San Francisco run $10,620 to $33,040 with a written price before work begins
- The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers your remodel for a full year, in writing, at no charge if it fails
- Cambria is a quartz surface, not porcelain or granite. The install spec is different, and so is the repair approach
- We’re an independent San Francisco remodeler, not a Cambria dealer. We carry their approved fabricator network requirements and work to spec
Which Cambria Models This Applies To

Cambria produces over 130 designs, but they all fall into the same quartz family: roughly 93% natural quartz bound with resin, non-porous, and cut to order. The two most common lines we see in San Francisco bathrooms are the Marble Collection (Brittanicca, Torquay, Ella) and the Summerhill Collection, though we’ve templated everything from the Estate series to the new Inverness designs. The model name is usually silkscreened on the underside of the slab before fabrication. If you no longer have the original fabrication paperwork, flip the remnant: the name and lot number are almost always there.
The compatibility gotcha with Cambria is that it’s not a drop-in product you can reorder by SKU. Each bathroom piece is templated to your specific vanity, shower niche, or tub deck. That means the “part” you’re replacing isn’t a standard size. The slab is cut to your measurements by a fabricator who meets Cambria’s certification requirements. We handle that templating, cutting, and install under one written scope, so you don’t end up coordinating three different trades yourself.
OEM versus aftermarket doesn’t apply with Cambria the way it does with, say, a Kohler valve. The slab comes from Cambria’s Minnesota plant. What varies is the fabricator’s shop, the seam techniques, and the underlayment. We specify the same Cambria slabs you’d get from any approved outlet. The difference is how they’re set and what’s underneath them.

Signs Your Cambria Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing
- Hairline cracking at the seam. Quartz slabs expand and contract with temperature shifts. San Francisco’s fog-cycle swings between 50 and 70 degrees, day in and day out. A seam that wasn’t given proper flex allowance or was glued on an uneven substrate will start showing a hairline crack. That crack isn’t the surface failing. It’s the install failing underneath it.
- Water staining at the backsplash joint. Cambria is non-porous, so water staining means the silicone bead has failed and moisture is wicking into the drywall or cement board behind the slab. By the time you see the stain, the substrate is already soaked. In Outer Sunset houses especially, that moisture doesn’t dry out on its own.
- Chipping around the faucet holes or sink rim. This is almost always from a faucet or sink that was torqued down too hard during install, or a sink that’s shifted from a failing undermount adhesive. Small chips can sometimes be polished, but if the sink isn’t supported properly, the fix won’t hold.
- The slab has pulled away from the wall. Cambria should sit flush against the backsplash or wall line. If you can slide a credit card behind it, the adhesive has degraded or the wall board has absorbed enough moisture to swell. This is common in older San Francisco bathrooms where the original greenboard was never replaced before the surface went up.
- Soft spots or movement when you press on the slab. Quartz doesn’t bow. If the surface gives, the cabinet or subdeck underneath is compromised. We’ve opened more than a few Nob Hill bathroom vanities and found particleboard that had turned to sponge from an old supply line leak. The Cambria was fine. The box underneath wasn’t.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

A Cambria bathroom remodel in San Francisco runs $10,620 to $33,040 installed. The spread comes down to three things: how many slabs the bathroom requires, whether we’re tearing out old tile or a previous stone top, and whether the plumbing rough-in needs to move. A compact guest bath with a single vanity top is at the low end. A primary bath with a full Cambria shower surround, tub deck, and two vanities is at the high end.
Every quote is a written line-item price before work begins. No numbers move at the door, and change orders only happen if we both sign them. The line item shows the slab price, fabrication, tear-out and disposal, substrate repair, and plumbing fixture reset. You’ll know exactly what each dollar covers.
San Francisco Cambria Bathroom Remodel Pricing:
- Single vanity top with backsplash: $2,360 – $4,720
- Full shower surround in Cambria: $5,310 – $11,800
- Vanity top plus shower surround: $8,260 – $18,880
- Complete primary bath (tub deck, shower, vanities): $16,520 – $33,040
Workmanship carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the seam fails, the slab shifts, or the waterproofing doesn’t hold within one year of job close, we come back and correct it at no charge. In writing. Signed at the end of the job with a clean site and a documented scope.

Quartz is heavy. A single vanity slab can weigh 90 to 120 pounds, and a shower panel can push past 200. The safe work you can do yourself includes photographing the failure, checking the silicone bead, and confirming the model name on the slab underside. What you shouldn’t do is try to re-set the slab, cut or polish it, or pull it off a wet substrate. One wrong move with a seam cut or a uneven lift and the entire slab cracks. Cambria doesn’t sell quarter-sheets for patching.
The waterproofing behind a shower surround in San Francisco’s constantly damp air is not the place to learn by trial. If the surface has pulled away or the seam has split, call (831) 610-5598. We’ll send a uniformed technician who’s been background-checked, and we’ll hand you a written repair scope before touching the job.
FAQs

A properly installed Cambria bathroom surface should last 20 to 30 years in San Francisco without major issues, because the material itself won’t rust, etch, or stain. The limiting factor is the substrate and waterproofing behind it. In fog-heavy neighborhoods like the Outer Sunset or the Richmond, older walls that never got proper ventilation can compromise the install within a decade. Call (831) 610-5598 for an assessment of what’s behind your current surface before you invest in replacement.
Small chips under a quarter inch can sometimes be filled and polished by a fabricator, but cracks are structural and usually signal an underlying install failure. Repairing the surface won’t fix whatever moved underneath it. We’ll inspect and give you a straight answer before quoting anything. Estimates are free at (831) 610-5598.
Most Cambria bathroom remodels in San Francisco take 2 to 4 weeks from tear-out to final walkthrough, with the slab templating and cutting running concurrently with your plumbing and substrate work. The fabrication itself typically takes 5 to 10 business days. We’ll put the full schedule in your written scope before the first tool comes out.
We order Cambria slabs directly by design name and lot number from their fabrication channel, which means your slab is cut fresh for your bathroom, not pulled from leftover inventory. We do keep common remnants for small vanity tops and repairs. Call (831) 610-5598 and we’ll check availability for your specific Cambria design the same day.
We also work with KraftMaid cabinetry, Silestone surfaces, and Kohler fixtures, among others, all documented in the written scope. If your bathroom needs a full replacement and you’re weighing Cambria against another quartz line, we’ll walk you through the differences and price them both. No pressure. Straight number, real scope, no surprises at close-out.
